Working under the leadership and guidance of a professional HVAC technician, students will study the principles of heating, ventilating and air conditioning in addition to gaining a working knowledge of heating and cooling systems maintenance. Students will become familiar with the different components of the machinery including filters, motors, blowers, chillers, compressors, burners and thermostats. They will learn how to read machinery schematics and diagnose poor equipment performance. Our instructors will introduce the class to the process of load calculation and ways in which different systems rely upon pressure to regulate the flow of heat and cooling. In addition, students will learn about the Clean Air Act and the compliance issues that pertain to the tasks and responsibilities of refrigeration and air conditioning technicians.
