Governing boards such as the board of directors, play a critical role in nonprofit leadership. Directors take on the fiduciary responsibility for the fulfillment of the organization's mission and the legal accountability of the operations. In this course, students develop an understanding of the board of director's responsibilities as well as successful board practices. Students examine strategic planning, succession planning, fundraising, financial management, board development and chief executive assessment.
