In this physically intense course, you explore the world of scuba diving. For safety reasons, you must be in good shape and comfortable in water. The course is divided into three segments- classroom, pool, and open water- taught by master certified instructors. You are responsible for bringing or purchasing fitted personal gear, including mask, fins, and snorkels, to the first night of class for inspection by the instructors. During the classroom sessions, key topics discussed include safety precautions and preliminary instruction of equipment. You will learn usage of the breathing apparatus, effects of water and air pressure, removal/clearing of mask, and proper checking of equipment prior to dives. The majority of the course consists of applying methods learned and perfecting skills during confined dives. Master instructors and assistant instructors are present during pool sessions to ensure accurate procedures are met. You will apply your acquired knowledge by completing four open water dives during the final weekend of instruction. Upon conclusion of the course, you receive a lifetime, internationally recognized certification card allowing you to dive anywhere as a solo professional diver.
