The wines from the Iberian Peninsula have recently been in a state of reinvention that has transformed their image from anonymous, rustic and underwhelming quality to vibrant, modern wines of genuine quality and value. The course will cover the wine history of the regions as well as the geography, soil and cultural antecedents responsible for this recent transformation. Students will taste wines from the following wine regions of Spain: Rias Baixas, Ribera del Duero, Rueda, Rioja, Priorat, Catalunya and Jumilla. From Portugal the regions covered will be Bairrada, Dao, Douro and Alentego.
