This course provides students with an opportunity to connect their passion for automobiles with the fundamental skills of taking digital photographs to support web-based magazines and web sites. Students will learn basic principles of professional photography to capture images of the interior of top-of-the line automobiles from the perspective of the driver to the passenger, focusing on the dashboard, the upholstery and various electronic features. Working with a skilled photographer, students will learn the correct methods to photograph the exterior of the automobile as well as the components under the hood. Lastly, students will learn the strategies to best photograph a moving vehicle as it drives toward and away from the photographer. Principles will be taught in ways to best capture the motion of the vehicle by anticipating movement and varying the shutter speed. Following the fieldwork, students will be able to use photographic enhancement software to design a finished product, suitable for publication. A valid driver's license is required to take this course. Cameras will be provided.
