In this course, our expert driving instructor will introduce you to the skills and knowledge requirements to take on a career as a commercial vehicle dispatcher. Whether monitoring a fleet of trucks, automobiles, emergency service vehicles, or public utility providers, dispatchers maintain the control and flow of a business' operation. In the instructor-led and online classroom portions of the course, you will learn about the role of the dispatcher and receive an overview about a typical day's work. You will learn about different vehicle types and uses, compliancy issues for the road, critical accuracy of timetables, billing functions and perhaps most importantly, communication techniques. In the outdoor lab portion of the course, you will work with modern technology to plan potential routes onto which vehicles could be dispatched taking into consideration environmental conditions, road work, hour of the day and type of load to be delivered or picked up. Once courses are plotted, you will follow each path in a vehicle to determine the efficacy of the courses plotted.
